50 Random Things About Me

  1. I just turned 44, although I don’t feel 44!
  2. I grew up on the outskirts of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
  3. I am a Christian, and I take my faith very seriously.
  4. In the 80s, I was the roller skating queen. I used to roller skate around my pool for hours kicking up the Chattahoochee stones and leaving gaping holes in my deck. Twice a year my mom made me patch up the holes.
  5. I once swam with sharks in the Florida Keys. Did you notice I only said ONCE?!
  6. I get migraines and can’t eat a lot of food, including chocolate.
  7. I love the color lavender.
  8. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is my favorite movie of all time. Pretty sure I can quote the entire movie.
  9. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, but I started out as a music major.
  10. I love all kinds of music, except for rap and jazz.
  11. I love Nocciola gelato.
  12. I was both a Brownie and a Girl Scout. My mother was the co-leader for my troop.
  13. While in the Girl Scouts, I had to compete in a pie eating contest. To this day I cannot even look at a cherry pie without getting sick to my stomach.
  14. I’m a pretty big introvert.
  15. I am currently writing two books: a mystery series and a YA ’80s time travel novel.
  16. I love The Partridge Family and David Cassidy. My cat, Daphne’s favorite toy is a catnip filled David Cassidy picture that I got on Etsy.
  17. The first song I learned to play on the piano was Madonna’s Like a Virgin.
  18. I learned to ice skate in Florida.
  19. I love going to concerts and try to go to at least one a year. My most recent was Whitesnake and Foreigner. They rocked!
  20. My first crush was Andy Gibb.
  21. I worked in book publishing for 15 years until I was laid off in 2017. I loved every minute of it, well, almost every minute of it!
  22. I have been to Walt Disney World well over 100 times.
  23. I also sang in the Christmas Candlelight Processional twice, when it was still held at the Magic Kingdom. It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.
  24. I have never broken a bone.
  25. When I was younger I was really into horror movies and scary things. My 10th grade research project was on Jack the Ripper.
  26. I currently live in North Carolina, and I love it!
  27. I taught myself to crochet when I was 32.
  28. I love to play vintage board games. My favorite is Clue.
  29. I also love to play video and online games. Centipede was my jam back in the day. I used to play every morning before school.
  30. I am a Starbucks junkie. My go to drink is a Trenta Very Berry Hibiscus. Yum!
  31. I am a HUGE ’80s fan. I have a knack for knowing the year that a song, album, or movie was released in the ’80s. I’d make a good “dial a friend” option for ’80s trivia.
  32. Simon Le Bon is my favorite member of Duran Duran. I am a huge Duranie too!
  33. And a Fanilow! Yes, I love Barry Manilow.
  34. My college major is English, but I mainly studied British lit and poetry. I love symbolism!
  35. I am not a huge fan of online shopping. I prefer browsing in the shops or at the mall.
  36. I can’t knit to save my life. I’ve taken classes in person and online, but I just can’t get it.
  37. I’m a big sports fan. I root for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Florida Gators.
  38. But I am so un-athletic, except for roller skating, ice skating, and Pilates.
  39. I also won the Presidential Physical Fitness Award twice in middle school, which is a big joke in my family.
  40. I love tea! I hate coffee.
  41. When I was younger I wanted to be Nancy Drew or Belinda Carlisle.
  42. Now I want to be J.K. Rowling or Stevie Nicks.
  43. When I’m sick I eat mac & cheese and watch Disney’s The Rescuers.
  44. I probably say “awesome” a hundred times a day.
  45. I have been published four times in various craft publications.
  46. I am a sucker for a British accent. Hello, Tom Hiddleston!
  47. I love surprise endings in books or movies, but I hate being surprised in real life.
  48. I also hate practical jokes.
  49. I grew up in South Florida and have gone through my fair share of hurricanes, including Hurricane Andrew.
  50. I’m definitely a Southern girl. I love sweet tea and say y’all.
