The End of Summer & Felt Popsicles
I always think of Labor Day as the end of summer. I know fall doesn’t officially start until September 23, but once September arrives the countdown is on, at least in my house. All of my fall decorations are already up, and all signs of summer are but a distant memory. And living in the South with our 100 degree temps and horrible humidity makes it very hard to miss the summer.
But there are a few things about the summer months that I am going to miss:
- summer thunderstorms
- summer festivals
- outdoor concerts
- my birthday
Popsicles are one my favorite summer snacks. They are so refreshing and most of the time less calories than ice cream or gelato!
A few years ago I was commissioned to make some felt popsicles for Stitch Gifts 2014 magazine by Interweave. They were a pretty big hit, especially in my Etsy shop.
For many, many years I have loved making felt food items for fun and for profit, but it seems lately like everyone is making felt food. And, on several occasions, I have had other designers blatantly steal my designs for their own shops, which is totally sad.
So, I have decided that in 2019 there will be a complete shift within my Etsy shop. No more felt food items or children’s toys. I’m going to make things that I want to make, although they will still be retro-inspired. I’m still deciding whether to completely change the name along with the items I will be selling. At least I have a little time to decide.
My new shop will be opening Spring 2019!
